The background of the upazila administration

Pirojpur subdivision was formed on 24 October 1859. It is known from Barisal, written by Rohila Kumar Sen, written by Bakla and Ishwar Chandra Gupta, in 1915, Patharghata was a police station of Pirojpur subdivision. In Pirojpur subdivision the names of 10 thanas are found. The names of the names are: (1) Pirojpur, (2) Kawkhali, (3) Nazirpur, (4) Swarupkathi, (5) Baneripara, (6) Patharghata, (7) Mathbaria, (8) Bamna, (9) Bundaria, (10) Kathalia. Pirojpur subdivision was under the district of Barisal. A subdivision of Patuakhali was formed in 1871. Patuakhali district was formed on 1 January 1969. At this time, Patharghata and Bamna thanas of Pirojpur subdivision are in Patuakhali district. Barguna subdivision was in the district of Patuakhali. Presently Patharghata is an upazila of Barguna district. On February 28, 1984, Barguna was upgraded to the subdivision of the district. Until 1983, Patharghata Patuakhali district and Barguna subdivisions were in normal condition. After the administration of the upazila administration in the country was upgraded to Patharghata upazila on March 24, 1983.
